Transforming the global economy events

Occupy Together

Wednesday, 29 February 2012 - 6:00am - Friday, 21 December 2012 - 9:15am

The Occupations began in earnest, at Wall Street last September and have been ongoing in many forms, some disrupted by police arrests and attacks. (Ignore the posted dates- that's just to keep this on view on the website).
OCCUPY TOGETHER, is an unofficial hub for the events springing up across the country in solidarity with Occupy Wall St. This site was created to provide people with information about events that are organizing, ongoing, and building across the U.S. as the 99%, take action against the greed and corruption of the 1%.

The Economics of Happiness Conference

Friday, 23 March 2012 - 4:00pm - Sunday, 25 March 2012 - 6:00pm

Around the world, the realization is dawning that the problems we face are linked — from unemployment and poverty to Wall Street corruption, from the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico to the burning forests of Indonesia, from hydro-fracking to growing fundamentalism. As these crises intensify, a chorus of citizen voices is rising up in response. People are demanding an end to the exploitation of the many for the profit of the few.

F29 - Shut Down the Corporations Day of Action

Date/Time:
Thursday, 23 February 2012 - 2:00pm
Guest:
David Osborn

On January 1, 2012, Occupy Portland put forward a bold call to action to shut down corporations on leap day, Wednesday, February 29, 2012. Occupy Portland is “leaping into action” for a not-to-miss day of civil disobedience to alert the world that the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) must stop existing and that we as a society can reclaim our power over government!

January 27, 2012 - A Deluge of Events, Ideas...

My son and I have been working hard all week on campaign materials, the new website, my radio show. People have been phoning, volunteering, helping in many ways. An old friend, and gifted communicator, W. David Kubiak, who used to direct 911Truth.org and knows the complex language that I've been struggling with (Joomla) is in alignment with what we're doing and hopefully will make our website more functional, less embarrassing, and publicly presentable.

Class Warfare in America - Join the 99%

We are the 99%...
This is an excellent overview of what is "Class Warfare in America"

Occupy Congress! Pre- Kickoff Organizing Party, Saturday, January 21, 2012

It is clear that the vast majority of Americans are not being served by Congress, nor the policies which have set back human and civil rights throughout the world, and threaten all people with physical and institutional violence. Perhaps a government of, by and for the people was never a reality, but legitimate governments serve their people, and those which kill, exploit, impoverish, harm people deserve to be challenged. The Occupy Movement has risen in response to the most egregious crimes committed by Wall Street with the assistance of government.

January 9, 2012 - Occupy Congress

Ten years ago yesterday, we marched on Senator Feinstein's office to demand an investigation of 9/11. Yesterday we marched on the San Jose Courthouse where the infamous ruling that has been used to grant corporations the rights of people was written. Occupy San Jose organized the rally which was followed by a General Assembly.

To Be or Not to Be – Reform or Revolution – Fear or Love?

There are many paths to the mountain top. Ninety-nine percent of the people would agree that our goal is a just, peaceful, equitable, world, liberated from the shackles of violent, deceptive, corporate rule, with a future where human needs and the planet are honored and respected over profits.

Reporting from Chicago...

I've been in Chicago since last week attending the American Monetary Institute's Annual Conference. At the same time, I've been trying to network with the people in front of the Chicago Federal Reserve Bank - Occupy Chicago who have acted in solidarity with Occupy Wall Street and the larger movement challenging the corporate control over government, democracy, for the benefit of 1% and at the expense of the vast majority of people and planet.

Reporting on the Bay Area 9/11 Truth Events to Reclaim the Truth and the Future

Since 2004, the Northern California 9/11 Truth Alliance has held 9/11 truth film festivals at the San Francisco War Memorial Veterans Building and at the Grand Lake Theater in Oakland with the generous support of the Grand Lake Theater owner, Allen Michaan. As the ten- year anniversary drew near, we began to plan an expanded program of film festivals to commemorate this significant date. We also discovered that the annual Power to the Peaceful Festival, which we have always participated in through a march and a rally, was cancelled.

9/11 Power to the Truthful Festival

Aung San Suu Kyi, a democratically elected leader in Burma, placed under arrest by the controlling military regime, famously wrote,

“It is not power that corrupts, but fear -- fear of losing power and fear of the scourge of those who wield it."

The fear she speaks of corrupts those in power who fear that the truth about their actions and motivations would arouse popular disapproval and opposition. It also silences those who dare not challenge the powerful for fear of reprisal.

Into Eternity – Nuclear Past, Present and Future

Despite all of our differences, the future of humanity is bound to a technology born in the last century, the Pandora’s Box that tantalized scientists into attempting to harnessing nuclear power. Unleashed, the nuclear industry has terrified populations, invisibly threatening them with premature aging, cancers, a host of ailments, and birth defects, not sparing other species and life forms in the process. Shrouded in secrecy, heralded by the most powerful government, sanitized and promoted by the press, nuclear weaponry and nuclear power demand enormous government subsidies to exist while the costs and risks are born by the public. The scientists who witnessed and researched the harmful effects of radiation and began to voice their concerns were vilified and silenced. Those who championed the nuclear industry and developed the technologies were richly rewarded. Nagasaki, Hiroshima, nuclear tests, nuclear weapons, the threat of nuclear war have hovered over the consciousness of current generations, only gradually being replaced by the phantom threat of nuclear terrorism by rogue states and crazed religious extremists. In the wake of Three Mile Island, Chernobyl, and Fukushima, the greater threat seems to be human error, hubris, the inability of the entire industry to contain the deadly, deforming radioactive particles from threatening humanity, our air, our water, our food, our ocean.
